Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Green items play an important role in maintaining a balance in the ecosystem. As demand for gift boxes and covers is rising day by day, it would be better if people use items made of organic material. Generally gift boxes are made of natural cardboard or wood. They can also be made of any fabric material. In the market there are varieties of gift boxes: pen gift boxes, corrugated gift boxes, handmade gift boxes, etc. People can select these gift boxes according to their requirement.

Packing gift baskets is necessary for some special events. For example: If you want to wish someone on their wedding ceremony or promotion event, you need a gift basket. Cellophane bags are used to wrap gift baskets. These bags are made of natural materials, which have the ability to seal freshness inside it.

Candy bags are other special bags available in the market. These bags are used to pack candies. Few special candy bags available in market are cello candy bags, cellophane candy bags, Christmas candy bags, etc. People, who don’t wish to buy candy bags from the market, can design one in their house. Candy bags designed at home are termed as personalized candy bags. Personalized candy bags can be more beautiful and stylish when compared to normal candy bags. Cost of making these bags is minimal.

From video games to movies, 3D is on the march

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Two-dimensional television is so last year. Viewing in three dimensions is everywhere at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) — from webcams to video games to home theater systems — and some TV manufacturers are betting it could be the biggest thing since high-definition and flat screens.

This year’s edition of CES, the world’s largest consumer technology showcase, even featured the first national 3D broadcast of a major sporting event, the US college football championship game between Oklahoma and Florida.

Some products — such as the Minoru 3D Webcam — may end up being little more than a novelty item, a description which pretty much sums up Hollywood’s decades-long flirtation with 3D.

Heavy-hitters led by Japanese electronics giant Panasonic and Oscar-winning director James Cameron, are seeking to change that.

“Make no mistake about it, 3D is not a gimmick any longer,” the Titanic director said in a taped message during a presentation at CES of Panasonic’s 3D Full High-Definition (HD) home theater system.

“3D is ready for prime-time,” said Cameron, who is putting the finishing touches to a 3D movie, Avatar, scheduled for release later this year.

More movie theaters in the United States are equipped to show 3D films in which action threatens to spill out of screens but bringing 3D into the home may still be some ways off.

One of things holding 3D back is the absence of a common standard for 3D content, which in turn is holding back the movie studios which will provide that content.

With its 103-inch plasma display and breathtaking visual effects, Panasonic’s 3D Full HD home theater system received rave reviews but a spokesman said there is no firm date for bringing it to the US market.

“It depends on whether or not we can get a format established,” said Dan Tarwater. “Panasonic is interested in being able to come to the marketplace with a standard in place rather than venturing out on their own.

“That will involve the cooperation of not only the hardware manufacturers but also the software side of things,” he said.

Then there’s the little problem of those glasses.

“I don’t think it will be a mass market technology until content improves and manufacturers can come up with a way to do 3D without the glasses,” said Paul Gagnon, a television market analyst at research firm DisplaySearch.

“There are some demos without glasses, but they have lots of room for improvement,” Gagnon said.

The CES coincided this year with a major 3D initiative on another front, the broadcast of the Oklahoma-Florida football game in 3D to some 80 movie theaters in 35 US states.

“It’s taken eight years,” said Bud Mayo, chief executive of Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp., a company seeking to turn movie theaters into 3D entertainment centers which would show sports, concerts and other events in three dimensions.

“We’ve invested hundreds of millions of dollars converting theaters all around the nation and built the satellite network that enabled this to happen,” he said.

The 80 theaters showing the football game sold out but the jury’s still out on whether the venture will be a success.

The future is less uncertain for 3D video games.

“This is the year 3D goes mainstream,” said Ujesh Desai, vice president of GeForce desktop business at computer graphics chip specialty firm NVIDIA, whose demonstrations of 3D video games were a CES highlight.

“I think 3D has a great opportunity as a niche technology at first, for gaming mostly,” agreed Gagnon.

John Jacobs, a notebook PC analyst at DisplaySearch, said the 3D video game displays were “off the charts impressive.”

“But the challege to me becomes how big are those markets and how many resources do you want to invest?” he said. “The challenge is to go mainstream. But then Ferrari’s not mainstream and they make a boatload of money.”

Jalandhar Mail

A new show on television brings in a truckload of stars to the city. There’s veteran actor Ranjeet dropping his mean streak, Rakhi Sawant’s boyfriend making an identity, Baba Sehgal doing what he’s best at….JAGMEETA THIND JOYbrings a roundup

Till now all the joint families that you’ve probably caught on television have a) squabbling mother-in-laws b) forever plotting daughter-in-laws c) basically, a lot of unpleasantness. In an effort to make the audience out there less skeptical about joint set-ups, SAB TV has brought in the Bhalla parivaar. This is one happy Punjabi family from Jalandhar complete with the Bauji, his bossy-yet-affable wife and a couple of doting sons and their better-halves. Coming from the Tony and Deeya Singh stable (the makers of Left Right Left, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin), the show ‘Jugni Chali Jalandhar’ is being pegged as a one of a kind comedy soap which stars a couple of veterans alongside a bunch of new comers. There’s veteran actor Ranjeet and Alka Sachdev as the elders, Baba Sehgal and Rakhi Sawant’s down-to-earth boyfriend Abhishek Avasthi as the sons and newcomer Karan Godwan and Muskan Mehani as the love-struck couple. Quite like the downpour we had on Friday, these stars poured in the city along with the biggies from the channel. Here’s a who-said-what of it all.

Mean No More : Minus a few giveaways on his face that show he’s aged, veteran actor Ranjeet looks exactly like how we’ve seen him onscreen. “Only now I am not running after a woman trying to molest her,” the actor laughs in his stride. Having played the really bad man in films, Ranjeet has turned a new leaf with his foray into television. “The concept really appealed to me and that’s what got me to sign up. As far as acting goes, I don’t find any difference in the two mediums,” says the actor who plays the Punjabi patriarch who doesn’t like educated women! “Otherwise I have no such issues,” he laughs. On a more serious note, he’s not yet doing a Bollywood flick for “I am not ready to do tit-bit roles.” But there’s a movie in the pipeline and he’s the one directing it.

Stepping Out Of the Shadows : Even though Abhishek Avasthi brought home the ZEE Cinestars Ki Khoj title, it’s taken him long to find his feet as an actor in the industry. The fact that he’s Rakhi Sawant’s boyfriend has much to do with it. “I think I have had my share of dance shows and I now want to concentrate on my acting career,” admits Avasthi who plays a brawny Maninder Bhalla on ‘Jugni Chali Jalandhar’. And unlike his controversial girlfriend, Abhishek wants to play safe. “This is a great debut for me on television. The banner’s good and so is my role,” he answered. The fact that his love life has been much explored by the media, Abhishek’s not cribbing. “We are celebrities and such things are bound to happen.” Bring up Rakhi and he mellows down even more. “She’s been misunderstood. In reality she’s very down to earth and helpful person,” the boyfriend shares.

Sream Debut : Until now, 20-year-old Karan Godwan was used to being in the background. This former dancer from Shiamak Davar’s team finally decided to step out. “I have schooled in Spain and came back after finishing high school,” informs Karan who plays the youngest son Vicky. With no connections to pull, this newcomer decided to give it all. “I must have given a million auditions and then Jugni Chali Jalandhar came my way,” Karan’s happy to have made it finally. On the show he’s pairing up with Muskan Mehani who plays the lead as Jugni. Muskan’s not new to television, having done shows like Dil Mil Gayee and Mamta.

Second Stint : The last time we bumped into singer and once-in-a-while actor Baba Sehgal, he was busy crooning on NDTV Imagine’s show ‘Dhoom Macha De’. While Jaspinder Narula went on to win that, Baba Sehgal has emerged once as an actor on ‘Jugni Chali Jalandhar’. “I am a Punjabi and what better way to show it off than by acting in such a soap that brings out the best of a Punjabi family,” mentioned the singer who even gets to rap while playing his character of Balwinder Bhalla. With an album in the making, he has enough to keep him busy and us too!

Kelly Brook once got trapped in a dishonest relationship

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Kelly Brook has admitted that she once struggled to get out of a dishonest relationship.

The beauty, who has previously dated actors Billy Zane and Jason Statham, found herself trapped in an unhappy relationship with no idea how to end the it, reports China Daily.

“I’ve been heartbroken and rejected and felt frustrated, and been with someone who couldn’t be honest with me,” Brook told Britain’s The Guardian newspaper.

“People stay in relationships for longer than they should. Sometimes they don’t know how to get out of them and sometimes they try and treat the other person badly rather than just saying, ‘I don’t want to be with you anymore.’

“Or they wait for someone better to come along. “But for whatever reason, because human beings in general are needy, clingy people, it’s a bit bold to just break away from a relationship and launch into the unknown,” she added. (ANI)

Brook is currently dating British rugby star Danny Cipriani.

Colin Farrell thinks he was high on drugs while doing sex tapes

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Irish actor Colin Farrell thinks that he was probably high on drugs and alcohol when he taped his infamous sex session with Playboy model Nicole Narain.

Farrell, 32, even took Narain to court in a bid to try and stop the distribution of the sex tape in 2005, but now he has admitted that the footage wasn’t so bad for his career.

The only thing he seems to regret is that Narain had put the idea of a sex tape to him when he was not sober.

“I think I was high… It seemed like a good idea at the time,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

The other reason he fought so hard to have the footage off the Internet was because he feared his mother’s comments if she saw it.

“God forbid, she”d tell me something like, ‘Oh you remind me of your father at certain angles’,” he added.

Hail wine lovers!

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Any doubts about Delhi’s sizeable population of wine lovers were put to rest last weekend as a huge crowd of wine enthusiasts and industry experts descended upon the gala tasting session held at The Imperial to announce the launch of The Wine Society of India in the Capital. Guests were seen chatting or swapping business cards over wines and Cadbury’s chocolates.

But the centre of attraction for the evening was wine legend Steven Spurrier, chairman of the WSI’s board of wine advisors. Also present at the event were David Banford of WSI, Reva Singh, founder and editor, Sommelier India-The Wine Magazine, British high commissioner Sir Richard Stagg with wife Arabella.
